SHILLONG: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of St Anthony’s College, Byndihati Campus, adopted Lumshken Village in East Jaintia Hills, as its model village and organised its first ever Special Camping from December 17 to 22.
As many as 60 students participated in the Special Camping. The programme, titled ‘Arise, Awake and Share’, was aimed to spread awareness among people of the area and to inculcate selfless community services qualities in NSS students and deliberated programmes like drawing competition (Class I – X), singing competition, dancing competition, healthy baby show, football match, cleaning d and others.
The Special Camping was organised under the leadership of programme Officers Seven Dar Dkhar and Banribha Kharmawlong, Assistant Professors in the Commerce Department assisted by Assistant Professor Banjoplang Marwein of Political Science Department. A meeting was also arranged with the Village Committee in the presence of the Headman, Secretary and other members of the Committee.
