TURA: Police are on the look-out to arrest a youth who, in a fit of drunken stupor broke the main glass door of the Hawakhana Baptist Church in Tura in the early morning hours of December 25.

The CCTV footage which has gone viral shows a youth with a bagpack running up to the door and kicking it in. He then picked up what looked like a flower pot and smashed the door before another youth took him away. The incident took place at around 2:30 in the morning.

“A case has been registered and investigation is on into the incident. From CCTV footage it looks like the youth was drunk after night of revelry. We are acquiring further footage and appropriate action will be taken after the investigation is complete,” West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Dr M G R Kumar said.

Meanwhile, Dr Kumar has ruled out any form of communal angle as according to the footage available the perpetrator seemed unable to control his actions.
