TURA: Chokpot Block NPP members in South Garo Hills on Friday, resigned en masse along with aspiring party candidate, Leoberth R Sangma alleging dictatorial functioning by Tura MP and National NPP President, Conrad Sangma.

In their resignation letter to Sangma, the members claimed that the genuine voices of the honest party workers were not heard by the party high command which deprived the party ticket to the son of the soil (Leoberth). Earlier, the party ticket for Chokpot was allotted to Secondson Sangma.

“Conrad claims of forming a corruption-free government if voted to power. How can he do that if he gives party ticket to those who are unwanted in other political parties,” the members said.

Reminding the statement of Late P A Sangma in the Parliament that minority communities were living in fear psychosis due to the atrocities committed by the right wing, the members asked if Conrad could  stop the same when the party was in alliance with the Bharatya Janata Party (BJP).
