SHILLONG: The charge sheet against Cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, additional chief secretary PS Thangkhiew and others for the education scam is likely to be filed within a month.
An official source said the CBI has already completed a preliminary investigation.
It was on January 3 that the CBI registered a case against Lyngdoh, Thangkhiew, Directorate of Elementary and Mass Education and ‘unknown others’.
The CBI has also forwarded the original FIR registered against the accused to the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The CBI will question all the accused persons before making any arrests, sources said.
Several persons, including ministers and MLAs, who had recommended names of candidates for the appointments may also come under CBI scrutiny.
The CBI action is following the order of the High Court of Meghalaya on November 2.
The court had taken exception to the large scale manipulation in the teachers’ recruitment process carried out in 2009-10.
