AMPATI: Mobile PC tablets were distributed among 983 Class XII students of 11 higher secondary schools of South West Garo Hills under the Chief Minister’s Students Digital Learning Aid Scheme 2017-2018 at Ampati Multi Facility Centre on Tuesday.
The Wi-Fi enabled PC tablets or M-tabs are pre-loaded with educational content covering the MBOSE syllabus as well as study material and sample question papers for engineering and medical entrance exams.
The tabs were distributed by Mahendraganj MLA and Meghalaya State
Resource Mobilisation & Employment Generation Council Chairperson, Dikkanchi D Shira.
She was accompanied by South West Garo Hills deputy commissioner, Cyril Darlong Diengdoh along with EAC, Dimse A Sangma and District School Education Officer, C J Sangma.
Addressing the gathering, Shira said the state government carried forward the scheme with a focus on improving the education scenario of the state and empowering the students to be competitive in today’s globalised world.
“Today’s generation is about accessibility and one of the steps taken by the government is to make the students digitally aware through education and skill development programmes,” she said,
Shira further urged the students to make the best use of the gadgets and show that they are on a par with the rest of the world.
In his welcome address, Diengdoh said the scheme was a great opportunity for the students to empower themselves technologically.
“The government believes in providing equal opportunities for every individual,” he said.
