Poll training for parties in WKH

NONGSTOIN: The office of the deputy commissioner (election) West Khasi Hills district on Thursday organised a training cum awareness programme for political parties in the district.
The training programme was attended by K.L Nongbri, ADC West Khasi Hills, P.D Sangma ADC West Khasi Hills, S. Warjri, EAC West Khasi Hills, SML Tron, assistance expenditure observer among others.
Nongbri emphasized on the benefits of EVMs and VVPAT. He also conducted training on how to operate EVMs and VVPAT during the polls. Besides, the Assistance Expenditure Observer Tron also conducted a programme on expenditure monitoring.
Another training programme was organised on Tuesday by the District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills for the heads of various government departments schools and institutions falling under the district for the need to constitute a voter‘s awareness forum for the department and electoral literacy club in schools and colleges.
The EAC in charge (election) S.Warjri informed the gathering about the objective of the forum introduced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to create awareness about the necessity of the EPIC card and the rights to exercise their franchise to vote.
He added that the club in schools and colleges will educate children above 14 years of age about the importance for enrollment to achieve a hundred percent voting during elections.
