SHILLONG: Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) president Ardent Basaiawmoit said the party would shortly announce the final list of candidates after a review of certain constituencies.
“We will review whether we will put up candidates in all those seats where we are supposed to because in some constituencies we have decided to not put up candidates and support UDP candidates only,” Basaiawmoit said. He said the party would examine a few constituencies whether to put up candidates or not. The party has so far announced the names of 13 candidates.
The HSPDP is in alliance with another regional party, United Democratic Party (UDP) as part of which the two parties have also proposed to come up with a common minimum programme.
While the UDP is in a pre-poll alliance with the HSPDP in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region, it has come together with the Garo National Council in Garo Hills. Basaiawmoit said both parties are working on the common minimum programme.
