Meghalaya Day functions deferred to Jan 22

TURA: Meghalaya Day, which is celebrated every year on January 21, will be celebrated on January 22 this year on account of the celebration date falling on a Sunday.
In this regard, the district administration of West Garo Hills will organise a mass cleaning drive at 7 am on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh has urged all Area Locality Development Committees to organise cleaning drives on the day in their respective localities to keep it green and clean.
The local bodies have also been urged to segregate plastic/bottles from other debris which will be taken for disposal by vehicles provided by the Tura Municipal Board (TMB).
The deputy commissioner also informed that awards will be given for cleanest locality which will be announced later.
