Office bearers
The Seng Samla Lachaumiere has elected new office bearers on January 13 at a general meeting at basketball ground, U Tirot Sing Syiem Indoor Stadium. The office bearers for the year 2018-2020 are president – Elton Cliff Warjri, vice-president – Andrew Jyrwa among others.
The Dainadubi regional Unit of the Association for Democracy and Empowerment informed that its publicity Secretary, Rexwell Marak and Treasurer, Walseng W Momin have been removed from office. President of the unit, Brellingstone M Sangma informed that two new office bearers will be nominated shortly.
Electoral rolls
The District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills, has informed that the final of the last part of Electoral Rolls with respect to the Assembly Constituencies of Pynthorumkhrah, Mawlai , East Shillong , North Shillong , West Shillong, South Shillong , Mylliem , Nongthymmai and several others have been published with reference to January 1 as the qualifying date and in accordance with Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. The rolls are available for inspection at the respective Electoral Registration Offices and Record Offices. They can also be viewed on http://servicevoter.nic.in.
Condolence
The Editorial Board of Ka Iing Khristan, a monthly Catholic journal of the Shillong Archdiocese, in its emergent meeting held on Wednesday mourned the sudden demise of Leslie Hardinge Pde, one of the founding members of the journal. He was an Associate Editor since its inception in 1992 till his death. The staff sent their condolences to the bereaved family.
The All India Poetess Conference, Meghalaya Chapter in a press statement condoled the demise of the author who had been an ardent supporter of the organisation.
Facilitation centres
The District Election Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat informed that Facilitation Centres has been set up for the purpose of Registration of Eligible Electors with reference to January 1 as the qualifying date and for any issues relating to the photo rolls and Continuous Updation of the rolls. Any complaints and queries may be made at the office of DC, Election branch, Khliehriat, office of BDO Wapung, office of BDO Saipung.
Run for
Meghalaya
The office of the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District together with the office of the District Sports Officer, WKHD will organise a ‘Run for Meghalaya’ within the district as part of the Meghalaya Day celebration on January 22 at 7am starting from the DC’s office, WKHD for men, women, boys and girls. Complete route of the run will be announced on that day itself.
