SHILLONG: The land bank committee set up for the National Games 2022 met here on Thursday to discuss about infrastructure for holding various aquatic games.
The working president of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, John F Kharshiing, said the panel members discussed about identifying land and added that earlier the committee conducted inspections for the same to construct necessary infrastructure for the Games.
“Our first priority is community land,” he said.
However, the government is facing some issues as far as holding aquatic sports as they need a swimming area of 1 km and other infrastructure.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Urban Affairs Department. The state government recently signed the ‘Host City Contract’ for the 39th National Games 2022, which will also coincide with Meghalaya’s 50th statehood.
