SHILLONG: The first list of BJP candidates is likely to be released on Wednesday by the party’s central leadership.
A state BJP leader said on Sunday that the central BJP leaders, Nalin Kohli and KJ Alphons, who are looking after Meghalaya, will meet in Delhi on Monday to discuss the names before finalisation of the list.
The first list will contain the names of 20 candidates which were earlier forwarded to the central leaders of the party.
The names of sitting legislators, who joined the party recently, may figure in the first list.
Prior to the meeting of the central leaders, the state BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh met the BJP general secretary Ram Madhav in Guwahati on Sunday.
The state BJP is keen to contest in all the 60 seats. But the central election panel is unlikely to put up candidates in all the 60 seats as it is looking at the winning chances of the nominees.
