SHILLONG: The HSPDP Nongkrem constituency has criticised Congress ticket aspirant from Nongkrem, John Kharshiing, for his statement that the regional party has links with the BJP.
In a press statement issued here, HSPDP’s Nongkrem unit secretary Hubert Riang termed Kharshiing’s remark as “misleading”.
Questioning Kharshiing’s comments on the political links, Riang said the HSPDP did not participate in the presidential elections as it did not support any of the candidates put up by the Congress or the BJP.
He clarified that the HSPDP has no links with the BJP as alleged by Kharshiing.
On the other hand, the HSPDP also criticised the chairman of the People’s Democratic Front, PN Syiem, who “has misled the public on several issues relating to KHAD (Village Administration Bill), 2015, and encroachment by MUDA”.
