SHILLONG: The CBI court has granted bail to four persons accused in the education scam. The court on Wednesday granted bail to Additional Chief Secretary PS Thangkhiew, former legislators Sniawbhalang Dhar and Donkupar Massar and Jowai South MDC Moonlight Pariat.
While Thangkhiew was the Principal Secretary in-charge education when the scam rocked the state, Dhar, Massar, Pariat and other political leaders had recommended their preferential candidates for appointment as teachers.
Earlier on January 15, interim bail was granted by the court to the accused following their petitions to prevent arrest.
The CBI had named former education minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and others as the accused in the scam.
