Villagers sensitised on govt schemes at legal services camp

TURA: A one day Legal Services Camp was organized on Wednesday at Asanang near Tura by the District Legal Services Authority of West Garo Hills in collaboration with the District Administration and various line departments.
The programme under the theme, ‘Poverty Alleviation’ was organized with the objective of identifying and connecting the people to welfare schemes in order to ensure that the benefits of such schemes are passed on to the marginalized sections of the society.
Stalls were put up by a total of 17 departments under the district which included non-governmental organizations like the Bakdil, Bethany Society and Montfort School of Tura to sensitize the people on various governmental schemes available in their respective departments.
West Garo Hills District Session Judge, A M Ripnar, Judge and incharge Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, B Joshi, Tura Law College Principal and Legal Aid Counsel, D Baruah and other Heads of line departments were among others who attended the programme.
