SHILLONG: KHADC CEM and Mawsynram MLA, PN Syiem has alleged that there was incompetency on part of few politicians while regulating acts like Meghalaya Prevention of Disqualification (Amendment) Act, 2015.

Speaking to media persons after filing nominations here at the DC office on Monday, Syiem said that there was a policy crisis in the state as well.

Maintaining that the Meghalaya Prevention of Disqualification (Amendment) Act, 2015 was against the spirit of Article 191, Syiem alleged that legislators had failed to legislate as per the constitutional mandate.

“You see the issue of parliamentary Secretary. They had to resign overnight and even after 46 years of statehood, we have adopted Assam regulations,” he added.

Reacting to a query, he said that the PDF would do very well in the elections since it had taken up   various important issues pertaining to the state.

Syiem who openly revolted against the Congress, however, remained mum on as with which party, PDF would have alliance after the polls.

Terming NPP and UDP as members of BJP-orchestrated North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), he also denied the allegations that BJP was indirectly supporting the PDF.

When asked about the poor roads in Mawsynram constituency, Syiem instead asserted that there were no good roads in the state except in Sohra.

“State Government does not have policy on roads and favoritism plays a major role. The important strategic roads are not black topped whereas less important roads are being turned into double lane road,” he told reporters.

Claiming that UDP and HSPDP are less popular, he said that every election was tough for him whether he was in Congress or PDF.
