Clarification
Independent candidate Rupa Marak will be contesting from Dadenggre constituency in West Garo Hills and not from Tikrikilla as mentioned earlier. Jonathone Sangma will be contesting from Williamnagar constituency of East Garo Hills as the Nationalist Congress Party candidate (NCP) and not as an Independent candidate. Nilkamal D Sangma will be contesting from the Tikrikilla seat as an NCP candidate as well.
Free eye camp
Lions Club of Shillong will organise a free eye check-up camp in collaboration with Bansara Eye Care on February 12 from 10.30am onwards at Lumsohphoh Community Hall in Upper Lumparing. Medicine will be provided free of cost.
Section 144 in Ri Bhoi, JH
The Ri Bhoi district magistrate has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC that prohibits coal-laden trucks on Nongpoh-Umden road via Byrnihat, Umsning-Jagi road, Umrit-Umling road and Mairang-Ranibari road. It also prohibits unauthorised private vehicles in and around the 25th Mile, Shangbangla weigh-bridge and makeshift stalls along NH-6. The East Jaintia Hills district magistrate has imposed Section 144 prohibiting trucks carrying loads of more than 9 MT from plying on the bridge over the Timanar river along the Sutnga-Sumer road.
Paid holiday
The East Garo Hills District Election Officer has declared February 27 a paid holiday on account of the Assembly elections. All magisterial courts, central and state government offices, banks, central and state public undertakings, including industrial units, will remain closed on the day.
