Weighing and checking of vehicles
Shillong: After issuing notice that the Transport Checkpoint-cum-Weighbridge at 13th Mile, Tamulkuchi, Ri Bhoi District has been de-requisitioned and has functioned from 25th Mile, Shangbangla, Ri Bhoi District, the Commissioner of Transport has therefore reiterated that all transporters/vehicles owners should mandatorily get their vehicles checked and weighed at 25th Mile, Shangbangla, Ri Bhoi, for appropriate documents as required by law and should ensure to carry only the permissible load to avoid delay at the weighbridge/checking station.

KV Happy Valley students win laurels
SHILLONG: Kendriya Vidyalaya Happy Valley on Friday were proud to witness the felicitation of 15 students by CBSE Board through Merit Certificates for scoring 10 CGPA in Class-X CBSE Exam. While 105 talented budding stars of the school participated in the Science Olympiad Exam conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation out of which 23 students won medals. A class X student Satya Parakram qualified for the first level National Talent Search Exam for Second level. In another achievement, a science project of a class IX student, R Tanisha Vidyalaya on the topic ‘Micro Encashment harvesting of water’ is selected for the KVS National level science-exhibition (JNNSMEE 2018) which will be held at Lucknow. The project was selected in Regional level KVS Science Exhibition which was held at KV Silchar.The Principal, Devendra Kumar Deran gave away the prizes, medals and certificates to all the winnersand gave them blessings. He also motivated all the students to take part in such activities in future.

NER NCC cadets excel in Republic Day camp in New Delhi
SHILLONG: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent from North Eastern Region (NER) comprising of 160 boys and girls returned triumphantly on February 1 from the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. 2070 cadets including 695 girls cadets from 29 States and 7 Union Territories of the country participated in the camp that culminated with the Prime Minister’s Rally on January 28. The NER contingent was judged as the ‘Best Marching Contingent’ in Prime Minister’s rally and overall stood second amongst 17 Directorates in RDC events . This has been by far the most outstanding performance of NER ever. Altogether the team got as many as 3 trophies which includes first prize in events like Prime Minister’s Rally, Line Area competition and second in Guard of Honour and Flag area competitions. Under the stewardship and guidance of Maj Gen Raju Chauhan ADG NCC Directorate NER, Shillong , for the first time ever, the Brass Band comprising of NCC Cadets from Bengtol Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chirang, Assam participated in the Republic day function under North Eastern Region Directorate and presented a mesmerising band performance in front of dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
