SHILLONG: Independent candidate from Nongkrem Lambor Malngiang released his election manifesto on Monday.
The 16-point manifesto speaks about self employment of women, besides the importance of agriculture sector in the constituency where majority of the population depends on farming.
The manifesto also speaks about the need for setting up a college in the constituency, besides strengthening of local clubs and organisations.
The manifesto also stressed the need to have better internal roads in the area. Speaking to media persons after releasing the poll manifesto, Malngiang said the trend has changed in the state and people now vote for individuals and not a party. “I do not consider my opponents strong or weak but I consider myself as a strong candidate. We contest elections to win and not to lose.”
He also spoke about water crisis in the constituency.
“I will try to get projects of rainwater harvesting from the Ministry of Water Resources if I win,” he said while stressing on the need to have mining policy in the state.
Earlier, he marched to the DC office along with 3,000-4,000 supporters, where he was allotted his election symbol.
