SHILLONG: BJP Meghalaya in-charge Nalin Kohli has denied the allegations that the party did not field any candidate in West Shillong to support the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate who will have a straight fight with the Congress.
“It’s not like that. We have been going purely by our assessments. We want to put up credible fight but unfortunately we could not get credible candidates whom we had thought would do well and be the clear winner there,” he said.
Earlier, MPCC working president Vincent Pala had alleged that the saffron party intentionally did not field candidate in West Shillong to support UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh.
