SHILLONG: Taking cognizance of the BJP’s charge-sheet against Congress, the latter has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) asking that the circulation of the publication be banned.

The letter written by the working president of the MPCC, Vincent Pala says that the document of the BJP does not meet the legal requirements under Section 127 A of the RP Act 1951.

According to Congress party, the publication is false and malicious without the name of the printer which is a gross violation of legal requirements under RP Act 1951.

The party also said that the copies of the publication should be seized to ensure free and fair elections in the state   failing which the objectionable material would cause irreversible damage to the electoral prospects of the party if the offenders were not brought to the book.

When contacted, Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), F R Kharkongor said that the department was examining the publications.

“If we find that the publication violates the guidelines of the Election Commission, we will send a notice to them,” he said.
