SHILLONG: “As youths will express their feelings to their loved ones on Valentine’s Day, they should also express their love for the state and the country on February 27,” the statement is the clarion call of the State Election department to the young voters of the state who will exercise their right to franchise later this month.
Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer said that Valentine’s Day is a day to love and basically every vote counts.”The youths should think that its my valentine and its my vote,” Kharkongor said.
The appeal of the Election department assumes significance since as many as 89405 voters this time are in the age group of 18-19 years. The State Election department however could not organise any programme on Valentine’s Day since the ECI team is visiting the state.
However the department has lined up a programme next week just before the polls to attract voters to visit the polling station and cast their votes on February 27.
