SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) is keen to start the retreat ceremony along with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Dawki in March.
A BSF official said the force is pressing hard to see that the retreat ceremony begins at the earliest and the Bangladeshi counterparts have informed the BSF that the proposal has been approved by their government and “it’s just a matter of time when it begins”.
It may be mentioned that Dawki is already one of the favourite tourist destinations in Meghalaya.
The place has a border check point and it is used by many tourists to cross over to India as well as Bangladesh.
Apart from the retreat ceremony, BSF is also coming up with other infrastructure for tourists such as a cafeteria, places to sit besides it would also exhibit its weaponry and screen movie on the force for tourists.
The BSF official added that it is high time for investors to invest in Dawki and build infrastructure like hotels and restaurants.
