Dy Election Commissioner meets district officials

TURA: Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India (ECI), Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS along with Director (Election Expenditure), ECI Vikram Batra on Wednesday, met the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police of all Garo Hills districts including Observers and Expenditure Observers appointed by ECI for the General Election at DRDA Conference Room in Tura.

During the meeting, Kumar reviewed the level of preparedness in the respective districts for the elections. District wise reports on election matters and its preparedness were briefed to the Deputy Election Commissioner by all the District Election Officers, Superintendent of Police and Observers.

On the level of preparedness the Deputy Election Commissioner took a detailed note on the election process and necessary requirements with regard to postal ballot, arrangement of transport for polling personnel for poll day, facilities available at polling stations, law and order situation, awareness and training programmes, amongst others. He also urged the Observers of respective districts to visit more polling stations in their area so as to get the ground realities.

With regard to cash and alcohol seizure in some of the districts, Chandra Bhushan Kumar requested the Observers to keep strict vigil over such incidents. He added that the general public especially businessman of the area should be made aware about certain restrictions including cash, etc. imposed during the election process.

 

Kumar also suggested preparing a report on any activity being done in the district as part of the election process which is to be shared to the Election Commission of India.
