Women not safe under Cong rule in Meghalaya :Irani

SHILLONG: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and   BJP leader, Smriti pIrani has torn apart Meghalaya Home Minister,  HDR Lyngdoh over the infamous Marvelene Inn incident where a minor girl was raped by Mawhati MLA, Julias Dorphang.
Addressing a rally at the BSN L quarters in Rynjah on Saturday evening,  she said that  while people played  with the dignity of the girls in the guest house of the  Home Minister, the Administration  of the state kept quiet and took no action.
“ The responsibility of the Home Minister is to protect people and dignity of woman but what kind  of Home Minister was here in Meghalaya whose son played with the dignity of woman and police did not even arrested them nor Administration took any action,” she said
Earlier, she attacked the State Congress  led Government saying the Meghalaya Government has  openly admitted that it was not providing safe drinking water to the people  even as she added that there were villages in Meghalaya which did not get power supply for four days besides people in some areas have to carry their relatives to Bangladesh on beds for medical treatment because of lack of healthcare facilities in Meghalaya.
Praising Prime Minister, she said that    more than four lakh toilets were built in the Government schools and  accordingly six cores toilets had been built in the country  after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power.
She also said that 31 crore bank accounts were opened since 2014  and the subsidy went straight into bank accounts of poor even as she added that   more than 3 crore woman in the country have now got LPG gas connection.

Earlier, BJP State In charge, Nalin kohli  said that the Congress Government was ruling the state for the last 15  years and there had been only scams after scams in the state during their regime.
