NONGPOH: The candidate of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) in Nongpoh, Patbun Syngkli, has come out with a seven-point agenda, including free education and employment generation, during an election rally at Umden Nongtluh here on Monday.
Syngkli said his top priorities are providing free education from nursery to Class XII, better road connectivity in all parts of the constituency, proper healthcare, uplifting the farmers’ community, employment for youths and boosting tourism sector.
Other PDF leaders, including the party’s president Ivanlumlang Marbaniang and chairman PN Syiem, said laws are needed to protect tribals in the state.
The leaders also said it was time to reject those legislators who did not think about the future of the people of the state.
They also raised the issue of mining setback in the state following a ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal.
Another issue that Syiem mentioned was the High Court order stripping the powers of the headmen to issue NOC, where none of the legislators had raised this issue, “which is a matter of great concern”.
Earlier, a few members of other parties were also warmly welcomed into the PDF fold by Marbaniang.
