Accident
On February 18 around 9.20 pm, an accident took place between one Innova car (AS-01GC-0561) and a Maruti car (ML-05C-3326) at Umiam (RB). As a result, occupants of the Maruti car sustained injuries and were removed to CH Shillong.
On February 18 aroud 10 pm, one motorcycle (number not known) knocked down Sudit Dutta Choudhury (59 yrs) at Laban, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was admitted at Woodland Hospital, Shillong.
On February 18 around10 pm, one Maruti van (ML-05P-1466) dashed against one Maruti car (ML-05C-4542) driven by Paul Kharkongor at Mylliem Sohliya (EKH), causing injuries to eight persons. The driver of the Maruti Van fled away after the incident.
On February 16 around 3.30 pm, one motorcycle (ML-05J-7638) ridden by Appu Das (17 yrs) dashed against a guard wall at Mukhla Petrol Pump (WJH). As a result, the rider and one pillion rider sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Ummulong for treatment
On February 15, one mini bus (AS-02AC-5707) while proceeding from Nongjngi towards 8th Mile dashed against one stationary truck (NL-01K-1813) at Khliehtyrshi Bypass Road (WJH). As a result, fifteen occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to CH Ialong / NEIGRIHMS for treatment.
Theft
On February 17, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the official quarter of D.M Suja at Bhagyakul, Shillong and stole household materials valued between Rs. 1.5 to 2 lakh.
On February 16, unknown miscreant(s) broke into the official quarter of Gayatri Chettri at AG Staff quarter, Motinagar, Shillong and stole cash Rs. 27,000/- and one digital camera valued around Rs. 20,000/-.
One found hanging
Pios Kurbah, Sordar of Dombahkseh village that on Feb. 17 morning, dead body of Sirmai Kharsyntiew (62 yrs) was found hanging behind her residence at Dombahkseh (WKH). Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver handed over to her relatives.
Fraud
Basudev Koch lodged a complaint that on February 10, he went to an SBI ATM at Williamnagar (EGH) to transfer money but as he was not having the idea to do such transaction, he asked one SWAT personnel at the ATM booth to help him. At the same time, one Rajib Hajong who was also in the queue, handed his ATM to the same SWAT personnel to help him and in the process the ATM of the complainant reportedly got exchanged with the ATM of Rajib Hajong. On Feb. 13, the complainant found that an amount of Rs. 2,50,000/- has been withdrawn during the period.
Assault
On February 8, three unidentified miscreants assaulted Benister Jyrwa [employee of Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh GDC, Survey of India, Malki] near Anjali Cinema Hall and snatched the officials daks/ important documents and cell-phone from him. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was admitted at CH Shillong.
