One killed in freak mishap

SHILLONG: One person succumbed to his injuries as a limestone kiln fell on him at Ichamati in East Khasi Hills.
Police said that the incident happened on Sunday night, around 9 pm, when the roof of a limestone kiln accidentally caught fire at Ichamati and fell on Elu Khyllep (18).
As a result, he sustained burnt injuries and later succumbed to his injuries. Necessary formalities have been observed.

Woman succumbs to injury
SHILLONG: On February 17 around 12.30 pm, one Bigaram Koch of Magurmari village attacked a woman Madhovi Barman (55) with a ‘dao’ near an LP School at Magurmari in South West Garo Hills. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police apprehended the accused and was sent to PHC Zikzak for medical examination and was later referred to a psychiatric ward for treatment.
