SHILLONG: The chief of the banned Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), Sohan Shira is the main culprit who is suspected to be behind the Sunday’s killing of the NCP candidate from Williamnagar, Johnathone Sangma along with three others were killed in a IED blast in Samanda Block in East Garo Hills.
East Garo Hills SP, RG Momin on Tuesday said that the police did launch an operation on Monday night after getting an information that Sohan Shira was in a village and teams were sent out at night.
But they got information about the police approaching them and fled the area. Police again received an information about the presence of Sohan Shira in a village and more teams were sent in the morning.
According to Momin, the combing operations have been intensified even as he denied the rumours that the one of the injured victims passed away.
As per the last information, one of the injured is in ventilator while two others are out of danger.
