SHILLONG: As the voters turn out in Tuesday’s polls, the NPP candidate from Nongthymmai feels there is too much of rules and regulations which has somehow dented the election spirit. Talking to media persons about the low turnout than the 2013 polls, Ehkupar Nongrum said that one factor for the turnout was the EVM problem as many people came out in the morning to cast their votes but many of them left after some EVMs malfunctioned. He also said that there are too many rules and regulations now unlike before when people are more aware about elections.”You see this time, even three to four days before the elections,it seems people are not aware about what is happening,” the NPP candidate added. Responding to a query, he said that many people would not vote for BJP.
