SHILLONG: The Seng Kynthei Wahingdoh felicitated 12 aged women who has attained the age of 80 years and above of Wahingdoh locality on Friday at Wahingdoh Community hall.
The 12 senior citizens were members of the Seng Kynthei Wahingdoh in their heydays. President of Seng Kynthei, Niloufer Laloo said that women would often take part in Dorbar Shnong along with the men.
Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Meena Kharkongor said that Khasi society had been known to respect its elders.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of Meghalaya Women’s Commission, T. Phanbuh said women should pave the way for the younger generation to learn about respecting elders which she observed, was on the wane.
She also spoke about International Women’s Day under the theme, “Press for progress”, for women to press forward in life
