Meghalaya to launch e-way bill system in April

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said that E-way Bill System would be launched on April 1 this year.

He added that in preparation for the launch of the E-way Bill System, all officers of the Taxation Department from the level of the Inspector and above have been trained and awareness programmes through workshops have been organized in the state for stakeholders.

“E-Way Bill is integral to GST,” he said while replying to a supplementary query raised by Congress MLA, Winnerson Sangma, adding that with E-way Bill put into plan all (concerned departments) will be computerised.

The CM also said that E-Way bills will check the fault in the system in absence of check gates and absence of a tight system to check goods.

“Earlier there was loss of revenue and pilferage,” Conrad said adding that E-way bill will tighten the system to reduce pilferage.
