SHILLONG: Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek, along with officials of the department, will inspect the site for the proposed Shillong Medical College and Hospital in Jhalupara on Wednesday.
At present, the site for the proposed medical college houses the Reid Provincial Chest Hospital.
The team will inspect the site at 10am and later will have a meeting on the spot to discuss how to go about the much delayed project, Hek informed.
Last year, former chief minister Mukul Sangma had laid the foundation stone for the state’s first medical college five years after an MoU was signed in this regard.
The medical college and hospital will be built on PPP mode with KPC Medical College in Kolkata.
The initial project cost was Rs 250 crore and now it will be escalated to around Rs 350-400 crore due to the delay.
