NONGPOH: Two days after the body of Wandalin Kongor (26) was found after being allegedly murdered in her flat in Delhi’s Munirka, it was buried on Thursday in Delhi by the authorities there along with the deceased’s relatives. The body was found highly decomposed.
Source informed that, the funeral was conducted at the Dwarka Christian Cemetery by the Khasi Jaintia Christian Fellowship, Delhi in Dwarka in the presence of the deceased’s relatives, police officers from Vasant Kunt Police Station, sub inspector of North East Delhi Police, Delhi Police North East Representative (DPNER) from Meghalaya and Meghalaya police.
It was informed that Wandalin Kongor who was earlier working in Hyderabad for about 3 years. Moved to Delhi just few months back. The relatives could recognize her decomposed body only from her nails as her face was beyond recognition.
On Tuesday morning, police received a call about a woman lying dead inside a flat in Munirka. A team reached the spot and found the flat locked from outside. On breaking open the door, they saw a highly decomposed and disfigured body of a woman lying inside the flat.
Umsning Legislator Jason Mawlong on being informed about the incident, flew to New Delhi to enquire about the incident and also to accompany the deceased’s relatives. He took initiative to press for a proper inquiry so that the culprits could be nabbed.
However, different Karbi Association of the state, includes the All Meghalaya Karbi Association (AMKA), All Meghalaya Karbi Women Association (AMKWA), Karbi Students Association (KSA) and the All Meghalaya Karbi Youth Association (AMKYA), raised their concern over the rise in attack on North East people at the National Capital and also seek immediate inquiry into the incident to nab the culprits.
The Khasi Students’ Union, North Khasi Hills District Unit, through its President, Ferdynald K Kharkamni, also voiced grave concern over the incident as well as growing incidents of attacks on Northeastern region people at mainland India.
The Union demanded the state government to intervene to facilitate proper investigation into the case so that the authority can arrest the culprits. He said the state government must come out with some initiative to protect and safeguard the youths of the state who are studying and working at the National Capital.
