NGT violation
On the afternoon of March 28, Police detected twenty-four coal laden trucks behind Umling Energy petrol pump in Ri Bhoi which were in violation of NGT orders.
On March 27 around 8 pm, local magistrate and police personnel detected three trucks – ML-10A-0831, driven by Shanki Sari (24), ML-04A-7216, driven by Pynbna Rymbai (43) and AS-01DC-3221, driven by Hamran Shylla (24), while transporting coal in violation of NGT orders at Lad Sutnga in East Jaintia Hills.
Theft
On March 28, unknown miscreants broke into Shangpung College at Muthlong-A village in West Jaintia Hills and fled with one computer set, two printers, three Xerox machines and a water pump.
Iadalangki Bamon, Research Scholar, NEHU lodged a complaint that on the evening of March 27, unknown miscreant(s) stole her purse containing valuable documents and Rs. 600 cash. Later, one person – Wanpynsuk Mawthoh (19) was apprehended and some of her belongings were recovered from his possession. Police have arrested Mawthoh.
Electrocuted
On the afternoon of March 28, one Md. Kudus Ali (35), driver of a dumper truck bearing the licence AS-01EC-4264 got electrocuted near USTM, Killing Road (RB). Necessary formalities have been observed and further details are yet to surface.
Accident
On March 28, one Tata Sumo (ML-05J-9327) driven by Rainborlang Shianglong (18) capsized at Nongshillong village near NH-44E in West Khasi Hills. Several occupants sustained injuries and were admitted at CHC Mairang and PHC Markasa. The driver fled after the accident.
On March 28 around 4.45 pm, one truck (NL-01G-0768) driven by Pawan Patho collided with another truck (NL-01AA-1935) at Nongrah near Shillong Bypass in Ri Bhoi. Patho sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital by a 108 ambulance, before police arrived.
Assault and theft
J. Islam Saikia, VEC, Secy. of Charbatapara village in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint stating that on March 22 around 3pm, he received one anonymous phone call, wherein the caller threatened him with dire consequences. On the same day around 9.30pm, while the complainant was on his way home, the caller confronted him near Rongsai River in Phulbari-Ampati Road, brandished a sword and looted Rs. 50,000 from him while also attempting to stab him. Saikia managed to escape.
A complaint was lodged on March 15 stating that the complainant’s ex-boyfriend Bansiewdor Marngar went to her residence at Laitkor, Nongdaneng, assaulted her, snatched her cell-phone and posted her personal photographs on Whatsapp, using her number and profile.
Cyber crime
Propali Hajong of Reserve Gittim, Tura lodged a complaint stating that on March 18, she received a notification on her facebook account with regard to the Hajong Community. Accordingly, she commented and soon after she received abusive comments along with threats to rape and murder her. Following this, she deactivated her facebook account. Later, some miscreants, Rajbir Singh, Austinn T Koch, Paul Amrish Koch and others, opened a fake facebook account in her name with a motive to defame her, cause communal disharmony and to create disturbance between the communities.
