SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) led by Shemphanglang Lyngdoh Mawphlang approached the director of the National Institute of technology (NIT), B.B. Biswal over allegations that the institute will be holding the Foundation day on April 1 which also happens to be Easter Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Lyngdoh said that the authorities of the institute did not show a hint of respect to the Christians’ day of worship and that Biswal had informed them that he would try his best to reschedule the programme to the next day.
Biswal later told the union members that he would also speak to the governor regarding the matter as he would attend the programme as the chief guest.
The students’ union has also reminded the governor to respect Easter Sunday as the day is revered by the Christians who consists of the majority in the state.
