TURA: A huge cache of arms left behind by slain GNLA chief Sohan D Shira have been recovered from the forests of Durama Hills across the Simsang river in East Garo Hills on Sunday.
Based on information, police teams were dispatched with metal detectors to scout the ground at Dorengkigre village, a well known GNLA stronghold.
The search teams found 21 pistols, magazines, two walkie-talkie sets, a handful of lethal arrow heads, and GNLA seals and documents.
This is the second recovery in less than a week in East Garo Hills region.
On Thursday, 14 steel casings of Claymore used to prepare IED bombs and three bulletproof vests belonging to GNLA chief Sohan Shira were found at Nengmandalgre village across Williamnagar town.
The items had been stashed by Sohan in the hideout for use whenever he passed through the area.
