Fresh panel to select DGP

SHILLONG: The Director General of Police, SB Singh, is set to retire on April 30, but the State Security Commission has not met till date as the panel is yet to be reconstituted.
Speaking on the matter, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the state government has written to the acting chief justice of the High Court of Meghalaya for the names of the persons who are to be included in the Commission.
“These are procedures which we have to follow and we are awaiting the names right now,” he said.
The chief minister, the leader of the opposition, home minister and DGP are the ex-officio members of the Commission.
“Though there is a delay, we are trying to work on war footing and move as fast as possible,” he said.
