SHILLONG: The members in the Assembly split their sides on the reply of Fisheries Minister, Comingone Ymbon to a query raised by Congress MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh on the most reared species of fish in the state.

Struggling to find the answer which took a few seconds, Ymbon smiled and said in Khasi, “Khabah” (common carp).

Again, Lyngdoh also asked on the places where the fishes are being marketed, Ymbon pointed to Laitumkhrah market which is also Lyngdoh’s constituency.

Members in the Assembly also laughed when NPP MLA Rakkam A Sangma spoke about “Ampati policy” hinting at former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s constituency.

“For five-six years, we have been looking at Ampati policy, now this time please have a look at South Garo Hills and Baghmara policy.”
