Shillong, April 10 (IANS) Continuing their dominance in the ongoing Indian Women’s League (IWL), Kangchup Road Young Physical and Sports Association (KRYHPSA) thrashed Gokulam Kerala FC 5-0 in a group match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday.

The win also lifted KRYPSA to the top of the group — courtesy a higher goal difference — despite being level on points with Eastern Sporting Union (ESU). Both teams are currently on 14 points.

KRYPSA will now clash against Rising Student Club (RSC) in the semi-finals. ESU will take on SETHU FC in the other semi-final on April 12.

In Tuesday’s game, skipper Bala Devi opened the account for KRYPSA in the 6th minute when she tapped home a cross from the flank. KRYPSA doubled their lead in the 25th minute as a wicked deflection saw Dangmei Grace finding the net.

Bala once again struck in the 43rd minute from inside the box and completed her hattrick in the added extra time of the first half for the half-time scoreline to read 4-0 in favour of KRYPSA.

Continuing their attack in the second half, Bala found the net in the 57th minute to make the scoreline read 5-0 as she added a fourth goal to her tally in the match.

Although Gokulam Kerala FC initiated attacks on the KRYPSA citadel, their attacks were nullified in the midfield itself, providing the majority of possession to KRYPSA.

Even whilst leading 5-0, KRYPSA did not ease on the pedal and in the 82nd minute Ratanbala Devi almost found Grace in the box, but her cross was intercepted by the opposition defence.
