100-bed MCH hospital completed in Jowai

SHILLONG: Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek has asserted that the 100-bed Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Hospital at Jowai has been completed and it will be made functional within this year.
Replying to a query from Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla during the question hour, Hek said “Staff and equipments are yet to be placed in the new hospital.”
He also said that the hospital building was handed over to the department on March 8.
Replying to a supplementary question from Mawlai MLA PT Sawkmie, he said that the department as of now has not written to the Personnel Department for sanctioned posts.
Replying to a question by Congress MLA Zenith Sangma, Hek informed that the hospital was sanctioned in 2013-14 at a cost of Rs 16 crore.
Congress MLA from East Shillong, Ampareen Lyngdoh also inquired if the hospital would have labour rooms and post natal care facilities, to which Hek said that the hospital would have OPD, OT, labour room and ICU, besides other facilities.
