Rape accused cop arrested

SHILLONG: The officer in charge of Mawngap police station was arrested in Kolkata and brought back to Shillong on Friday.The police officer is facing rape charges. AR Mawthoh, the Eastern Range DIG, confirmed that he was arrested. Sources, however, said he got an interim bail from the District Council court. An FIR was filed on Wednesday in which a woman had alleged that the police officer raped her on the night of February 2 in her tea shop in an area called Lawai. The OC was in Kolkata for training.
