NFNS resolves to start action at local level to press for statehood demands

GUWAHATI: The National Federation of New States (NFNS) has resolved to initiate action at the grass root to press for long-standing separate statehood demands.

The national executive meeting of the NFNS held at Agartala in Tripura today resolved that action be initiated at local level so that the demands separate state hood is strongly raised in the Parliament, Legislatures, and all Local Bodies and that all efforts are made for seeking electoral representation in the forthcoming elections to these Houses, according to the President of the NFNS, S G Aney.

The NFNS executive body further resolved that all constituent members of NFNS will take affirmative action focused towards solving the local problems of indigenous people including matters concerning their Land and forest rights
and take all initiatives for raising these and similar issues with a view to forming public opinion and determining steps to be taken to solve these problems.

The Federation decided to prepare a year-long calendar containing an action plan
of events and functions to be undertaken locally and nationally, and to execute the same through all constituent members of NFNS so as to achieve the desired objective of statehood,

The national executive body of the Federation further resolved that for achieving the desired objective of all in NFNS, based on the action plan to be undertaken, funds may be raised in order to finance the programmes/events as may be determined by a special committee constituted for that purpose.
