Security review meeting held for Williamnagar election

SHILLONG: In a security review meeting held for Williamnagar Election, the IGP, CRPF based in Shillong, Prakash D, IPS drew the attention towards arrangements of medical and emergency facilities during the poll day, i.e. April 27.

 In a statement issued here, Prakash said the induction of forces well before the poll day was discussed in which all the men were advised to adopt a voter-friendly approach.

A control room has been established in the district headquarters for effective communication.  The officers also visited a few interior areas.

The security network for a peaceful poll was discussed.  It was decided to instill confidence in the minds of the voters through area domination exercise, route marches, flag marches, meetings etc. The IGP insisted that a seamless communication network be established.

The election review meeting was held on Tuesday at the Circuit House in Williamnagar to review the election preparation for the forthcoming election to the Assembly constituency.

DIG CRPF Guwahati Range JPK Ray, DIG Western Range Passi, DC Ramkumar, Police Observer Anis Ahmad Ansari, and SP R. Momin attended the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by the senior officers of CRPF, BSF, ITBP and SSB who have been deployed for election duty. Various other unit commanders of the security forces were also present.
