TURA: Nokmas of Mindikgre area in South Garo Hills have sent a representation to the district Superintendent of Police urging him to look into the setting up of a police outpost or AD camp for the area.

The decision to demand for the police outpost was taken in a meeting held recently after a hand written letter from an unknown group, claiming to be the A’chik Revolutionary Army had demanded Rs 500 from each household from the area.

The group had said that it would send its local boys to collect the amount and each household would have to pay the amount by May 1.

Earlier, photos of the letter were circulated by a social activist from the area on social media Facebook. However, judging by the poor handwriting and spelling mistakes, it is likely to be the handiwork of small time criminals who are out to make a quick buck.

The demand letter had misspelled action as ‘eksin’ and area as ‘eria’.
