TURA: Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush was launched for the beneficiaries of West Garo Hills at Asanang Community Hall on Thursday where immunisation of children and pregnant women took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, District Medical and Health Officer, Dr M Sangma and other officials.
Mission Indradhanush is one of the flagship programmes of the Government of India included under the campaign “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” for coverage of all beneficiaries in the country. The objective of the Mission is to achieve 90 per cent coverage in immunisation of all children and pregnant women by December this year.
The first round of Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush had started from 23rd to 27th April, 2018, second round will be held from 21-25 May, 2018 while the third round will be conducted from 18-22 June, 2018.
Speaking during the launched of the programme, the Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh said that immunization of all children is necessary and urged upon the parents to immunize their child at the right time which would help to bring up healthy children in future. He reiterated that taking equal care of pregnant and lactating mothers is also necessary in order to ensure healthy life for both mother and child.
The Deputy Commissioner has also suggested the translation of the Maternal Child Health Card which is being provided by the Central Government into local Garo language for the general interest of the local people.
