SHILLONG: The Umsning bypass will be completed by May 15, an official said on Friday.
The official informed that 95 percent of the work is complete. The approach road for the minor bridge and the vehicular underpass, besides minor construction at the two junctions of the bypass, are left to be completed.
The bypass was delayed due to changes in the project. He added that after the road is complete, the National Highway Authority of India will conduct safety audit and open it to the public.
Responding to a query, the official said slippage cracks, which have occurred in some portions of the main road, will be repaired before the onset of monsoon.
