Huge cache of arms left behind by Sohan recovered in EGH

TURA: East Garo Hills police have on Sunday recovered a huge cache of armament left behind by slain Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) chief, Sohan D Shira following search operations which were carried out for several days.

 

The recovered arms included one 7.62 Machine gun, one 7.62 SLR Assault Rifle, one DBBL, one DBBL barrel, eight wireless sets, thirteen wireless set batteries, five primed IEDs in plastic containers, six twelve volt batteries for IED and five electrical circuits for RC IED.

 

The concealed arms were recovered from two separate locations at Rongbokgre and Dorengkigre villages. Both the villages are located around 15 kilometers from Williamnagar.

 

“We had been continuing our searches for any leftover weapons of the GNLA for the past several days. In the course of our search we came across two different sites where the weapons were concealed. They were brought back to Williamnagar this morning,” district SP, R T G Momin said.

 

According to the district police chief among the recovered arms, the 7.62 machine gun was the same weapon used by Sohan to promote the outfit in the initial stage of the outfit and many pictures of him carrying the weapon was circulated in various groups including the social media.
