TURA: Former Chairman of the ANVC (B), Bernard N Marak (Rimpu) has termed the attack on GLR Pharmaceuticals as an ‘attack on the weak’ and threatened to expose the old cases of the NGO leaders who were allegedly involved in the incident.

“I will not refrain from exposing the old cases of these “Goons”. I assure you, I have more pages to open and people will be very happy to know the truth,” Marak said.

Marak said that he took over GLR Pharmacy only after clarifying with the Administration that there was no illegality. He added that there was legal stand in the claims of the NGOs and that the pharmacy was being targeted ‘because they need their ‘haftas”.

“I made a choice to live a normal life and do legal business but they target my firm because there is a political motive behind it. They campaigned against me in GHADC and even in the last election. I don’t have any grudge against them but they and their political masters have. I have a legal agreement and I am doing a legal business. If they take law in their hands, I will not hesitate.

They are trying to make GLR issue into a communal clash so that they regain support in Tura,” Marak claimed adding, he would not hesitate to retaliate if they take the law into their own hands.

Marak alleged that the NGO leaders were self profiting leaders who assume their positions without actually being elected and questioned what they did during the eviction of the people of Rongkha Chiring, on the issue of non-payment of salaries to GHADC employees, water crisis in the town and many others.

“They have to be paid to raise an issue like they were paid this time. They chose issues to popularize

themselves and raise only those issues which are communal like the case of Sofior Rehman, loud speaker at Masjid and now Vivek Agarwal.Tengsak took away the hard disk of the CPU on someone’s instruction as can be seen in the cctv footage. The question is why only the hard disk? Was it Vivek’s previous partner who engagedhimself in an illegal business partnership who instigated these NGOs? Or is there someone else? Police have to dig deeper as I have provided
all evidences against them,” Marak said.

Marak claimed that the NGO leaders were responsible for many other illegal activities in the past.

“These NGOs were also behind vandalizing the eco-friendly project at Samsanghat. John Leslee Sangma, the then MLA filed FIR which should bepursued by the Police Department. They are targeting the weaker section of the society to gain local support but they themselves are adopting “evil” tactics. The scorpio owned by Tengsak has a North Garo Hills Registration and was actually donated by one wealthy non tribal businessman from Dudhnoi who did huge business against NGT ban. People who profit them are their allies. Locals are foes. Even the GSU office located at outskirt of the town has a hidden motive becausebusinessman who partially sponsored this office wants his vehicles to ply freely without harassment,” the former militant leader alleged.

Marak also alleged that the NGOs were regularly organizing the ‘mela’ at Tura Parade Ground without a proper TNT from the GHADC.
