Unclaimed bag causes bomb scare

SHILLONG: Panic gripped a locality in Nongthymmi after an unclaimed bag was found on Monday. The city police’s bomb squad was dispatched to Jylli in Nongthymmai.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said the bag belonged to a student of St Edmund’s College and they found the identity card.
The bomb squad found cosmetics, a library card belonging to PA Zhimoni (BA 1st Year Session 2016) and an empty JIO SIM card packet in the bag.
Meanwhile, traffic was also affected in the area for some time. In the past too, many unclaimed bags were found in the city and the police accordingly took measures by cordoning off the area.
