SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Mairang circle and HYC Umpdem unit found the Health Sub- Centre at Umpdem village in West Khasi Hills District locked with no staff attending to it.
The organization interacted with the villagers who told them that the staff used to visits the sub-center once a week and the people often have to walk for two hours to the nearest place to get medicines.
In a statement issued here, the organization stated they would meet the higher authorities to demand punitive actions against the negligent staff of the health sub-centre
On the other hand, the organization also said the 3-4 km PMGSY road from Sohdadek till Umpdem was in dilapidated condition.
In this connection, the organization urged the authorities to look into the matter.
